Linwood Barclay
Considered one of the sharpest and most hilarious political satirists around, Linwood Barclay draws on his 24 years of journalism experience to convey his uniquely witty and insightful take on the world around us.
Barclay writes a popular column in the biggest newspaper in Canada, the Toronto Star, and is also an acclaimed memoirist and novelist. A journalist since 1977, Barclay has been a columnist for more than a decade, with everyone from high school students to seniors enjoying reading what he thinks about an issue.
More than just a humour columnist, he’s a humour columnist with an agenda, often lampooning with a vengeance the antics of notorious public figures. He’s the author of several books; two very funny looks at family life called Father Knows Zilch: A Guide for Dumbfounded Dads and This House is Nuts!; a satirical look at a former Ontario premier, Mike Harris Made Me Eat My Dog; and a critically acclaimed memoir, Last Resort: Coming of Age in Cottage Country. That book won an award of merit from the Stephen Leacock Associates and was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour.
Most recently, Barclay has become a novelist. His comic mystery thrillers, Bad Moves and Bad Guys, were released to critical acclaim last year; Lone Wolf was released in September 2006, and No Time for Goodbye was released in 2007.
Barclay is known as an hilarious speaker. Whatever the topic, he’s guaranteed to entertain, making audiences either forget their problems, or laugh at ones they may have.
